For comprehensive and sustainable empowerment”… Taif launches activities for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Under the patronage of the Governor of Taif, the Taif Charity Association for People with Special Needs launches the International Day of Persons with Disabilities event on Monday under the slogan “Empowerment for a Comprehensive and Sustainable Future” at Al-Radaf Park through the initiative “Taif Moves.”

Dr. Saeed Al-Zahrani, Chairman of the Association’s Board, stated that the event will be held with the participation of Taif University, Taif Municipality, Taif Chamber of Commerce, the Social Development Center in Taif, in addition to many active entities and commercial institutions in Taif and success partners. The event will continue for two days.

Al-Zahrani indicated that the event aims to raise community awareness about the needs of people with disabilities, educate families on the best ways to deal with their children with disabilities, highlight their talents, capabilities, and experiences, promote a culture of disability, and showcase the efforts of our wise government in supporting and empowering people with disabilities. The event will last for two days at Al-Radaf Park and will include several activities such as a march, theater performances, sports shows, booths, competitions, traditional arts, and an awards ceremony.

The Chairman also affirmed that the government of His Majesty the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Crown Prince – may God protect them – is keen to encourage the organization of such events that focus on people with disabilities and their families to support and develop their ideas, encourage creativity, innovation, and empowerment. He also expressed his gratitude to His Highness the Governor of Taif, Prince Saud bin Nahar Al Saud – may God protect him – Taif University, Taif Municipality, the Social Development Center, Taif Chamber of Commerce, and all supporters and success partners for their participation in the International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2024 program.

It is worth mentioning that the Taif Charity Association for People with Special Needs is registered with the National Center for Nonprofit Sector Development and provides its specialized services to more than five thousand beneficiaries with various disabilities in Taif Governorate. Services include therapeutic sessions to develop skills, financial support, provision of food baskets and various medical devices, training courses, workshops, consultations, empowerment, rehabilitation for the labor market, and assistance in community integration.

Al-Zahrani also explained that one of the goals of celebrating the International Day of Persons with Disabilities is to understand disability issues to guarantee their rights, empower people with disabilities to achieve independent growth, access the best healthcare services without discrimination, enhance their self-confidence and capabilities through participation in various activities, fully include them in all aspects of life and development, and identify and remove obstacles and barriers that hinder their potential.
